Brief Summary:
This HIPAA compliant policy template is comprised of two principles and three regulation specifications. First, acceptable use. Acceptable use is present in order to make sure employees are only using company devices/their ability to access PHI in an acceptable way (e.g. ‘acceptable use’). Second, we have the portion of this policy which discusses the restricting of internal access to PHI. Similar to the Minimum Necessary rule, this policy deals with a ‘need-to-know’ basis. It discusses how employees shall only have access to the amount of PHI that allows them to carry out their day-to-day functions and nothing more.
